Supporting the work of St John’s Hospice

Created by artist Shane Johnstone, along with participants at Explore Week and volunteers from St John’s Hospice, this beautiful installation is designed to encourage peaceful reflection in memory of lives shared and lives lost. 

A labyrinth is a single path leading to a centre point and out again, it has only one entrance, only one exit and as long as you keep going forward, you will arrive back where you began. 

Unlike a maze, which is a puzzle trail of multiple entrances, exits, dead-ends & blind alleys designed to confuse and entrap the user, the purpose of a Labyrinth is to guide.

One loses oneself in a maze but finds oneself in a Labyrinth.
